Xiamen is a sub-provincial level city in Fujian Province on the southeast coast of China with a population of over 2.5 million. Looking out onto the Taiwan Strait, Xiamen has been voted both China’s Cleanest City and China’s Most Scenic City, which together have helped designate it as the second Chinese City “Most Suitable For Living”.

Because of its strategic location, Xiamen has a long history of trade with the west, particularly with the Portuguese, and this legacy is evident in the many fine colonial buildings to be found in the city, particularly on the island of Gulangyu. Xiamen was one of the four original Special Economic Zones designated in the 1980’s helping continue its traditional as being an important city for foreign businesses in China. Our collection of Xiamen stock footage has many scenes of modern Xiamen including business and manufacturing:
