Sichuan, also known as Szechuan, is a province located in the southwest of China. It is the most populated Chinese province with a population of 87 million people, including more than 15 different ethnic minorities. Sichuan's rank as one of the main agricultural areas of China has earned it the nickname "Land of Abundance" and Sichuan Cuisine is considered one of the Eight Great Cuisines of China. Sichuan Province is rich in natural mineral resources and is also a major industrial center, with a recent emphasis on attracting newer high-tech industries to the region, particularly to its capital city Chengdu.
