Shaanxi is a province with a population of over 37 million people in the Northwest Region of China. Geographically it is actually close to the center of mainland China and was an important trading city in the era of Ancient China as the eastern terminus of the Silk Road. The provincial capital of Xian, or Xi’an, was one of the four great capitals of Ancient China and Shaanxi is considered one of the cradles of the Chinese civilization.
