Chinese Society
China has been governed by the communist People’s Republic of China since the revolution of 1949 led by Mao Zedong and many remnants of it’s recent history remain today, from faded slogans of the Cultural Revolution to images and statues of Mao particularly on government buildings, such as those found around Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
China’s education system is creating huge numbers of college graduates, eager to build their careers in the city rather than return to the rural areas where their parents live. Also, many new arrivals to China’s cities are migrant workers, temporary residents to work on construction of new city buildings, to help ease some of the problems of over-crowding.
